Winning Strides is proud to present Josh Nichol in March. Josh creates a learning environment where horse owners
can find valuable information thereby raising the standard
in all aspects of their horsemanship. It is not be about
ego and competition but a place where you and your
horse are encouraged to be the best you can be while setting goals to reach what you may have not thought possible.
From a young age, Josh saw the horse from a different point of view. He always thought things could be done without force, which would bring about a partnership and not compliance. It was with this mindset that Josh worked
with his horses and soon began helping others. Although he has been teaching for many years, Josh is a life-long
student of horsemanship. He has continued to develop and deepen his understanding, studying with some of the great horseman of our time.
Josh excels as a teacher and educator. He has developed an extensive understanding of the horse and of the horse/human relationship. Josh does not discriminate between
disciplines of riding and has worked with elite dressage
riders as well as working cowboys. Participants in his
clinics come away with a better sense of balance and how
best to work with their horses in their journey towards softness and true partnership.
In addition to his accomplishments as a horseman, Josh graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with concentrations in Biology, Economics and Environmental Studies from Augustana University. He also has published articles in Equus magazine as well as the Northern Horse Review.

Winning Strides is proud to sponsor Richard Caldwell's clinics in Alberta and are thrilled to have him returning for a third year to Nanton in June 2010. The hallmark of Richard’s clinics is his well presented historical horsemanship methods, finely schooled horses and traditional vaquero gear.
Previous participants in the clinics have been professional cowboys, but, also others who simply have a passion to learn more about riding their horses with better feel and understanding based on time-tested traditions. It is a unique experience that will provide new insights in to the way people ride and interact with their horse from a gentleman whose expertise is unparalleled.
The notoriety of Richard’s “Vaquero” style of horsemanship, while grounded in techniques and skills from a time gone by, has of late grown in popularity due to a new found interest in contests which showcase the skills of preeminent horsemen and stockmen such as the annual The Californios Ranch Roping and Stock Horse Competition.
